The bomb was placed in the school's basement by Andrew Kehoe, a 55-year-old farmer and school board member. Kehoe was angry at the school board for not renewing his contract as a bus driver. He also had a history of mental illness.

The bomb exploded at 8:45 a.m., just as students were arriving for school. The blast destroyed the school's auditorium and cafeteria, and caused extensive damage to the rest of the building.

The victims of the bombing included 38 students, six teachers, and one visitor. The youngest victim was a 5-year-old girl. The oldest victim was a 74-year-old man.

The Bath Massacre shocked the nation. It was the first time that a school had been targeted by a terrorist attack. The bombing led to new laws being passed to prevent future school shootings.

Aftermath of the Bath Massacre

The Bath Massacre had a profound impact on the community of Bath. The town was devastated by the loss of so many young lives. In the years following the bombing, Bath residents struggled to come to terms with the tragedy.

The Bath Massacre also had a national impact. The bombing led to new laws being passed to prevent future school shootings. These laws included the Gun-Free School Zones Act of 1990 and the Safe Schools Act of 1994.

The Bath Massacre is a reminder of the importance of school safety. We must never forget the victims of this tragedy, and we must do everything we can to prevent future school shootings.

The Bath Massacre in Popular Culture

The Bath Massacre has been the subject of numerous books, articles, and documentaries. In 2007, a movie about the bombing was released, starring Treat Williams and Laura Dern.

The Bath Massacre is a tragic event in American history. However, it is also a story of hope and resilience. The people of Bath overcame the tragedy and rebuilt their lives. The Bath Massacre is a reminder that even in the darkest of times, there is always hope.
