Richard Engel is a veteran war correspondent who has reported from some of the most dangerous places in the world, including Iraq, Afghanistan, and Syria. He is the chief foreign correspondent for NBC News and the author of two previous books, War Reporting for Cowards and A Fistful of Rubles.
